Kodanshi Helcarver Another one of those albums where your favourite track changes with whatever you’re listening to at the time. Here, a side project of the mighty Mesarthim, Left Horn of the Ram conjure up a soundtrack to the final moments of a dying star.

Track 2 uses the same riff as track 3 from the Absence album, lending an eerie familiarity to the proceedings—the death throes of stars has happened before, countless times.

It all culminates in an unbearably poignant finale—we still feel in awe of the end. Favorite track: Final Moments of a Dying Star III.

Atmospheric amazing, its fucking amazing, trust me, this album will make you feels like a lost soul traveling space while experiencing all of the atmosphere true beauty. 10/10 recommend to everyone. Favorite track: Final Moments of a Dying Star I.

John Gaunt Based upon the release date, this is is early pseudo-Mesarthim. The songs have more drums and an earlier synth sound than post-2016 Mesarthim. I hear some sections of the second track that are similar to at least one other Mesarthim song, but that's not a deal-breaker. Favorite track: Final Moments of a Dying Star II.

Dans The Density Parameter, Mesarthim reprend tous les ingrédients qui font leur marque de fabrique : des pistes assez longues au rythme énergique (très palpable sur "Recombination" par exemple) et jouant sur des structures cycliques, un chant qui erre parmi les étoiles... Les ambiances sont prolifiques mais elles changent la donne : gracieuses, certes, mais surtout plus mélancoliques qu'autrefois. Un E.P. qui pourra largement diviser les fans, notamment ceux fermés d'esprit et qui refusent que Mesarthim puisse faire autre chose que du black metal atmosphérique. Presence est en effet l'œuvre dans laquelle le groupe profite le plus de la musique electro, notamment le new age (surtout sur "Eschaton Part I") voire même le synth pop sur le morceau éponyme ; black metal certes, mais une hybridation très prononcée. Si vous accrochez (comme moi), vous passerez clairement un bon moment ! Jordan Vauvert
